Whilst cPanel is very powerful & feature rich, it is very easy to use & it is perfect for beginners or non technical people. It has an easy to use interface & whilst there are many features available, if you are just starting out then you will find that you can manage your website files & emails easily with a very short learning curve.

How do I login into cPanel?

In order to login into cPanel to to example.com/cpanel (replace example with your domain name)
You will be presented with a login page, there you need to enter your cPanel username and password.
We would have sent you that information via email when you signed up to the hosting service.

How do I manage my emails?

Setting up & managing emails is very easy. Just create your new email addresses, give them a password & you are up & running. You can then configure your emails to download to your favourite email client such as Outlook or you can access them via your mobile phone or via webmail.
You can set up auto-responders and email forwarding too.

How do I manage my files?

Via Hosting cPanel. If you are managing your website through an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program such as Filezilla then you can manage your accounts easily via the control panel.
This allows you to upload & download files directly to your hosting space. You can also manage permissions for your files too.
You can even manage your files using cPanel’s built in File Manager.

How do I install applications such as WordPress, Joomla & Drupal?

It allows you to easily manage the set up of feature rich software which you can use on your website. For example you can set up a blog or a forum or an ecommerce shopping cart all from within the control panel.

How do I back-up files?

It allows you to easily back-up your website files either to your local PC or to another location such as a server.
The beauty of this is that if any files become corrupt or you overwrite something in error then you also have a full backup of all your files. These can then be restored easily.
You can also schedule backups to be performed automatically using the CRON feature. This means that you won’t forget to run a backup as it is all done automatically for you.

How do I create databases?

You can set up databases, add users & manage permissions all from within cPanel. You can easily create & manage MySQL databases.
You can also use more advanced features such as allowing external web servers to access & interrogate your databases.

Can I automate tasks?

A CRON allows you to create and manage tasks at a pre-scheduled time or at regular intervals.
For example, if you have a billing application that needs to generate invoices on a daily basis you can create a CRON rule (a CRON job as it is known) which will run at midnight or another time that you specify each day. The CRON can be instructed to run a script instructing the database to create any invoices due on that day.
